A key part of the volunteer program is to provide companionship and a regular, friendly face for the elderly in the community who live alone.
Every Friday afternoon a group of four to five employees makes a food delivery to the senior citizens, and spends some time asking if they have everything they need. Additionally, the employees have also supplied goods such as lunchboxes, bags, and rice cookers to replenish equipment that has broken, enabling the center staff to continue their vital service. Finally, in July 2015 Henkel volunteers donated 2,800 Euros (around 3.45 million KRW) to the center to help sustain the voluntary work.
A social welfare worker, Eun-seok Ahn, from Cheongdam Community Center said:
“Regular participation in the lunch box service by employees of Henkel Korea has become a huge help; now we have enough time to deliver lunch boxes more effectively. I appreciate Henkel Korea for willingly and actively joining our volunteer work.”
Speaking about the program, Henkel Korea President Gregg Rossier said:
“We are so proud to be a partner with Cheongdam and participate in this wonderful program. Social responsibility is a major priority not only for Henkel Korea but for our entire global organization. I want to congratulate our Gasan CARE Team for taking the initiative in this wonderful program. We are committed to not only continuing this effort but we want to accelerate our involvement and support. It is very uplifting to see the commitment of all of the Cheongdam volunteers”.
